Front drivers side door will not close. I tried the trick using a screw driver inserted when the handle is up.

Hi,

When you try to close the door, is it closing the entire way but not latching or does it seem to be just short of closing like something is blocking it?

I attached two pics below. The first is the best I could find to indicate where the door latch is located. The second is the striker where the latch attaches to. What I want you to do is check of the latch in the door (pic 1) is already in the closed position. If it is, it will hit the striker and not close.

If you find that it is, pull the door handle to the open position and take a screw driver or something to move the latch back to the open position.

If you have already tried this (I'm not sure what you meant by the screwdriver trick) let me know.

I will watch for your reply.

Take care,
Joe

Yes it does close the entire way but does not latch. The screw driver trick I was talking about is exactly what you described for when the door is not closing completely.

Okay. At this point, you need to remove the inner door panel and see if there is a linkage which is causing the latch assembly to stay in the open position. Something may be bent, disconnected, stuck, and so on. Or, the latch assembly itself may need replaced.

Here are directions for removal and replacement of the door panel. The attached pictures correlate with the direcitons.

Do this and let me know what is found. There will be steel linkage between the handles and the latch assembly. Check to see if anything is disconnected or damaged.
