i have a diesel i had the motor out for some repairs and when i put it back in my transmission now will not down shift to first gear and if you put it in park then put it in drive it grabs first then goes to second before the truck is even moving but if you manually put it in first it will work then you can manually put it in drive and it will shift up but not back down to first. i also now have no overdrive it will not shift to overdrive.

the transmssion worked ok before you took the motor out? I would check all the connections and the shift linkage. There could have been a wire that was crimped or not connected when the engine was put back in. check all the wiring connections on the transmission.
