2006 Dodge Stratus Single mother needs help figuring out a c

While driving I pulled up to a stoplight and slowed to about 20mph then the light turned green and I put on some gas, Then the car accelerated to about 2000 RPM then Jumped to 4000 RPM, It felt like the transmission had shifted into neutral or like it would grab on then fall a couple of times, following that the checkengine light came on. It has done this several times.I have always made it a point to have the oil changed regularlary and maintained properly. I thank you for your time and ask for your help on what this could be! I appologize I have not donated as money is very tight this time of year. P.S. it makes a sort of squekey noise when started on cold mornings but goes away.
