Steering problem
1991 Dodge Stratus 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 95.000 miles

How do I know if I need a power steering pump,
the car is steering good, the fluid is ok now, but there is smoke coming from under neath where the container you fill with fluid is,
at first it made a whinning nose, when I turned the steering wheel, and then I put fluid in it, the nose went away, but the smoke is still there.

There are two hoses that go from the pump to the rack and pinion. One is a high pressure hose and the other is a return. Based on your description, one is leaking. Check for leaks and let me know what you find.
