94 dodge ram van, 318 106,000 miles. About a month ago the fuel pump went out. I replaced the pump and the filter along the frame. It worked fine for about 5k miles. All of a sudden after about a 400-mile trip I now have to cycle the pump about 20 times before it will start and let it run a few minutes before touching the gas or it will pop and shut off. I have to do this every time it sits for more than an hour. It does not show any codes and the pump seems to be working. (Its making noise at least) I have not conducted a fuel pressure test yet. Will do that this weekend. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Please help, it's my only ride. John

Ya know, I just thought of that the other day. Would it make it, when the pump comes on most of the fuel goes to the return back to the tank before any pressure is built.

Hi, we are having the same problem with our van. I am wondering if you replaced the regulator and if it fixed the problem? Thanks

This sounds like the regulator could be bad or the fuel pump was of poor quality, which is more common. Here is the location of the pump which is inside the tank and regulator so you can check it out. Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.
