Hello, Had a horriable day at the gas station.

We have had problems with our alarm since we bought it and just dont use it at all. By a mistake I hit the door lock switch and the alarm set. OMG>>>

I tried to disarm the truck and it just wouldnt work. THe alarm kept going off and on. I tried to disconnect it by the steering column under the dash and it made it worse. So finally I took out the horn fuse just to get it to stop and so I could start the truck. I found later on this evening that the rear tail lights keep flashing. I was wondering why people were honking at me. Now I know.
I called the dealer they told me I had to get it reprgrammed and also get a new alarm key for 135.00. I didnt want to do that because we barley make it by as it is. I was wondering if you could let me know is there a way that I can disconnect my factory alarm and how do I do that? I would love to have my horn back and my rear lights to stop flashing. In the meantime I had to disconnect the battery. OH I also did disconnect the battery to see if it would help. Nope still a alarm. PLEASE HELP! Im a single mom and I need help in this.

Thank you
Shannon

The alarm systems are run through the PCM and I believe can be disarmed.

This guide can help

When my boss unlocked and opened the door of his truck the horn begins blowing and putting the key into the ignition does not shut it off or start the truck. So he removed the battery and pushed the truck around the side. Now since he cannot stand asking anyone else anything, he has been a mechanic and shop owner for twenty years. Has has given the task to me. Maybe if someone can help me figure it out he will just give me the truck. Can I bypass or even remove the factory alarm?

Bypassing or removing the alarm is not possible. If it were, thieves could do it, so what good would it be?

The alarm is turned off by unlocking a front door with the key or with the remote. If the door lock does not do it, there is a small chance the switch in the door is bad or the linkage is disconnected, but it is much more common to find a broken wire between the door hinges. Check those wires first, especially if you have other dead items like power windows, power mirrors, or speakers. If any circuit works intermittently when you open and close the door, it is certain the wires need to be replaced.
