Hi, yesterday the check engine started to flash. Then it didn't want to go over 40 mph on the highway or 15 mph up hills. Put the computer on it and came back with p1492 code which makes no sense to me. Pllease help don't know what to do. Thank you

Welcome to the forum, how long sinmce a tune-up? When the problem occurs, is the charging system acting up? The code you gave was battery temp sensor, probably in the battery tray under the battery. I'd have to do some testing on the circuits to see which way to go.

We just got the truck, so not sure when last tune up was. As far as charging we're not sure, how do you tell. We found what the code ment but don't understand why that would make the truck run like it is. Do you think it's issue is a tune up? We don't hav alot of money to play with. Thanks for your time.

I understand about the money issues, I'm the same way, around the holidays. On your dash, there should be a voltmeter-- battery lite or both, that will show a problem with the charging system. Is the tranny downshifting?

Hi jd123, The battery is charging fine. He said that it was not downshifting, but the rpm was getting up to 21/2-3 so he had to take his foot off the gas so it would kick into a passing gear, but then it would bog down again. Thanks again

Right now, I can't be sure it isn't a tranny issue?
