1999 Dodge Ram instument cluster(speedometer and guages

1999 dodge pick-up, ram 1500, 4WD, 5.9L, automatic transmission:
I removed and installed an instrument cluster, speedometer and guages, from my pick-up.I reconnected the PRNDL cable on the position arm on the steering column. When I move the shift lever to the park position on the PRNDL indicator, the pointer moves and displaces in the opposite direction. How do I correct the problem?How do I route the PRNDL cable around the steering column?I'm not sure I routed it correctly.
