1998 Dodge Ram four wheel drive failure

My four wheel drive is giving me a real headache. When ever I put into 4x4, hi or low, sometimes it works and sometimes it dosent. I dont konw if im just not putting it in right or if there is a specil trick to getting it to work or what, but it is driving me crazy. Thanks

Look at the passenger side of vehicle front axle there is a vacuum acuator they do become lazy and some just go out I found them on ebay cheaper than the dealer and still brand new TRUST ME I OWN A F$#% &*#@ DODGE
