1988 Dodge Ram tune-up

When doing a tune-up, which do you replace first:
the distributor cap & rotor, or the spark plugs & wires;
and how do you keeptrack of which wires go into which socket in the distributor cap?

It doesn't matter which is done first. As far as the wires, remove the old cap with the wires still attached. Replace the rotor and place the new cap on the distributor and secure it. Next place the old cap near the new one and identify the location of the wires to the new cap.
