1987 Dodge Omni 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic ? miles

the car stopped cause it was low on oil put some and changed the oil filter then when i started it oil was shooting out of the oil filter.why?

Hi:
Chances are the old o-ring from the old filter stuck to the engine and the new one was unable to seal as a result. Remove the filter and check for the old one. If it is there, remove it, make sure the new one is in place on the new filter and has a thin film of oil on it and replace it.
