i was told i needed a base plate ,is this the same as a spacer,or does the spacer sit above it?and how can i find a match for the base plate,also ,is there a temporary fix for a warped or cracked base plate?

Hi:

There is no temp fix other than trying to double gasket it if it's warped. If it's cracked, you can try JB Weld. It may work. As far as the base plate, there should be a gasket below it and above it.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding that part in a junk yard. It should be a 2.2L and chrysler put those in many different models.
