My girlfriend has an 05 dodge neon. The check engine light came on recently and now runs rough. Once the car hits about 2000 rpms it seems to misfire and have a hard time shifting. Even when the car is in park once the rpms hit 2 grand it sputters. Could these be a problem with the mass air flow or MAP sensor?

I have a few ideas of what is wrong with it but the check engine light would confirm them, get back to me with codes after you read this guide.

My little car is vibrating and has no power when I need to get up and go or from a stop and gas mileage went totally down hill, I have just had all the motor mounts changed thinking that was the issue of the vibrating, but no. Sometimes it's so bad that it vibrates my mirror off my wind shield. Sometimes my odometer will vibrate/shake that I don't know how fast I am really going. I was told to get a mass air flow sensor (MAF) but dodge told me there is no such thing only a MAP sensor? Without taking it to the dealer and paying $$$$$ do you have any ideas? Please.

No dealer, find a good shop, they are cheaper.

Hvae a compression test done first. Plugs and wires checked as well.

Is the check engine light on?

I got from OBD scanner code P0171. I have change the intake air temp sensor, coil, idle air control. It seems the problem of losing power when you accelerate disappear.
Insufficient in gas is not an issue. Good in gas.

Hard starting especially when car is cold. But after it warm up it become better. The idle sometimes become rough sometimes smooth. And the engine light I still there. What can you say about this? I still have problem.

Yep it sounds like a bad map sensor which won't set a code. I would try the sensor and run down this guide to make sure the catalytic converter is not clogged.
