I have a 95' dodge intrepid and shes acting a little funny. When I start my car it vibrates, it vibrates more when I put it in gear. As I slowly accelerate, it feels like she is trying to catch up with the speed by shifting late; there are still vibrations but it seems to get worse once I hit 45 mph. My car acts like this for a week then its fine, and so on. Please any help will be fine

thanks
john

Sounds like an engine misfire. How many miles are on the plugs and wires?

Any codes in the computer?

Maybe, check the fuel pressure and make sure it's in spec.

No problem, there is a port on the fuel rail that looks like a schrader valve. You'll need to get your hands on a fuel pressure gauge and attach it there.
It should be 125 psi. Just press the schrader valve to release the pressure first.

I dont think that was the problem, she got a little better but the vibrations never really went away, it almost felt like she was a little clogged up somewhere, like she wasnt getting all that she needed. And then all of a sudden my car got it and took off, repeatedly until I got to my desired speed. I put my car in nutrural and gave her some gas and the "clogging feeling" never existed, only as I was driving. It could be a number of different things probably?

You guys are great

I don't think this is a case for the net.I'm not sure what your'e experiencing. I don't know if this is performance issue (Misfire) that is happening. It sounds like somthing is affecting the fuel/air mix, but I don't imagine you have much in the way of testing equipment, which makes this difficult also. We can chew the fat about the possibilities, but I don't know that we can gain much ground other than guessing at some parts. I reccommend you visit a local independent shop that is capable.
