I installed a new timing chain according to a chiltons manual. seems to have went alright until rotating the crankshaft. while rotating, the chain gets slack at each side of the water pump meaning as the chain passes over the passenger side camshaft down to the water pump then from the water pump up to driver side camshaft. i did notice that when it happens the passenger side exhaust valve is being opened[img:391173e8c8]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/533023_DSCN0448_1.jpg[/img:391173e8c8]

Hi bpolzin,

Thank you for the donation.

There would always be slacks in the chain when cranking the engine manually.

The tensioner would take care of the slacks when the engine is running so there is nothing to worry about.
