The 2002 Dodge Intrepid I have has a 2.7L motor in it that needs to be replaced, and I was wonder if a 3.0L engine would mount up to the transmission from the 2.7L or what engine would mount up to it.

Thanks For your help,
Jamie

Jamie:

From experience, stay with a direct fit replacement. When you start changing things, everything needs changed. For example, if you used the 3.0L V6, motor mounts, computer, all sensors, vacuum hoses, wiring harnesses, exhaust system. Will need to be replaced. You will end up spending 10 times the money you save on the engine to make it work. I have been in the business for nearly 30 years. In the old days, it was simple to make the changes. Today, it is a never ending nightmare. One thing leads to another, then to another, then.

We always recommend direct fit parts for this reason.

If you have specific questions, or anything else, let me know. THanks for using 2carpros. Com and have a great holiday.
