Transmission problem
1999 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I had the transmission rebuilt at 124000 miles because I was rebuilding the engine and thought it would be a good idea to do the transmission at the same time The transmission was working fine. After reinstalling the engine and transmission the transmission would set code 1776 and go into limp home mode [ stay in second gear] untill I shut the car off then it would shift properly. This would happen only once a week or about every 75 miles. After doing some research and talking to the shop that overhauled the transmission I decided to change the solinoid pack. When I removed the pan to change it I did not find any metal and the transmission shop checked the valve body again {they checked it during the the rebuild and updated it then} they said it was OK. After installing the rebuilt solinoid pack the transmission is still setting code 1776 and going into limp home mode what do you think is causing this the transmission shop thinks I should change the transmission control computer but I don't want to unless I am sure that it will fix the problem!

Ok so there is no other codes being set? With that here are what could be causing the code to be set. Low battery voltage, debri in the trans pan or valve body problems. Now with this code coming back again and again here is what you can check. Make sure all engine grounds are attatched and that no wires are pinched between the engine and trans. Check the TCM (transmission control module) grounds are attatched. Check that you are getting full battery voltage to the TCM. Check TCM fused ignition switch output circuit and check power feed to the transmission control relay. Let me know how it goes.
