I lost my belts last night on the highway. i found the main drive belt wrapped around the crankshaft pulley shaft. I cut it off prior to installing the new belts and once the belts were replaced, it runs great. When I reached the house, I popped the hood and oil was all over the place. I believe there is a seal behind the crank pulley that I may have damaged with all the serpentine belt wrapped so tightly on the shaft. My question is can I just change that seal by removing the core support, radiator and pulley or do I need to go through the oil pan to replace the seal. Is it more than a seal? Is it bearings too?

Help. 1994 Intrepid, A/C, PWR Steering, 3.3 L and I have 142,000 miles on it. Great car just a misfortune with blowing the belts at 70MPH.

I have the same problem with the same car at 135,000 miles. I am also having a transmission problem that may be related. I'm up to 3200 RPMs at only 40mph. Are your RPMs higher than they should be? If the car is not shifting, I think the RPMs get too high and that may have broke my belt. Many ppl on this forum are having this transmission problem with the intrepids.
