1965 Dodge Dart starter not working from key cranking posit

nothing happens when you turn key to start position,but will start and run fine if you short screw drver across starter terminals..all lights work fine with key on, had starter rebuilt, is there a solenoid or relay somehere that is bad?

Hi there,

If there is no power at the starter solenoid terminal, the small wire, on the starter with the key on start, check the transmission isolator switch, this is the switch (should be on the side of the transmission at the selector ) that stops the car starting in rear.
