Transmission problem
2009 Dodge Challenger V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 19.2 miles

I wanted to install the Mopar Stainless Steel T-handle shifter in place of the standard leather-wrapped shifter. (A picture of these handles can be seen at this web page: http://www.dodge.com/en/2009/challenger/performance/transmission/ )

It looks easy to install, simply using a set screw to tighten the T-handle on the vertical shaft of the Auto-Stick gear selector, but I have not been able to figure out how to remove the leather-wrapped shifter. It has a stainless steel collar at the base which has a notch on the bottom of the collar facing the car dash. Although the notch would appear to hold the secret to removal of the shifter handle, I have not been able to figure it out. There is no setscrew or other device on the installed shifter that looks like it would release the shifter from the gear-selector shaft. Does someone know the secret to removing the installed shifter so that I can replace it with the T-handle?

Ok there is not info on this car yet so did some digging and found this thread on how it is done. It seems quite simple first get a standard screwdriver and pry the plastic chrome ring down. Now you will see the there is a slit in the white plastic put a screw drive in there and then slightly twist the handle and pull it off. Now you will see there is a small plug in the console pull it up and there is a white button under it, using the screwdriver or your key press it down as this will allow you to put the shifter in drive with out the key so you can get to the screw on the new shifter so you can tighten it. Put the shifter back in park and plug back in and you are done. Here is the pics I found to help thanks to Late Model Restoration.
