Brakes have begun to grind

I have a 2002 Dodge Caravan with about 92,000 miles and we recently washed the car and as soon as we finished drying the car and began to drive it, the front brakes began to make a grinding/brushing sound. Can brakes "go bad" that fast? Or could there be another reason for the sounds coming from the front brakes?

Only one way to see whats going on, check the front pads for friction material, they may be metal to metal and cauing the grinding noise, it could also be as simple as a stone stuck between the rotor and the backing plate or the backing plate touching the rotor, but you will have to get into the brakes to see exactly whats going on,

Drive it for a few miles and use the brakes several times. After the heat up and dry, they will probably be fine. The rotor likey got wet and can affect the surface of it temporarily.
