A few weeks ago when I went out of town I noticed my van making a high pitched humming noise. Sounds like it's coming from underneath the van. When I first noticed it I thought it was a storm siren sounding from a distance and then realized it was coming from my van. It continues after I turn the air conditioner off. I thought it was the air conditioning at first but the sound continued wheather I stopped or drove - but as soon as I let the car rest for awhile it would be gone until I went another 60 miles and it would start up again. Any ideas?

Can you tell aprox where it is coming from? Does it change with speed or turns?

It doesn't change when I speed up or slow down or even when I turn - it is there non - stop. I have tried to see where it is coming from it seems to be in or around the rear of the engine. Just really don't know where it is coming from because you can hear the sound from the front of the van all the way back to the muffler.

What I would like you to try is this. Remove the accessory belts and start the engine to see if the sound is gone. NOTE: Only run it long enough to see if the sound is gone because the car will overheat.

Let me know.
