Engine Performance problem
2000 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

hello bob and ken,
i just had an emission test but unfortunately my vehicle failed the test.
the hydrocarbon was higher than the limit which was 50 and the test reading was 76.
what must be the problem and can you help me what to do so the hydrocarbon reading will go down than the limit reading of 50.

Sorry you failed the test
high hydrocarbon reading is an indication of misfire or unburned gases

let me start by asking few questions
do you have check engine light on?
If so need to get the codes
using a scanner or an OBDII reader should get you the codes
also you may try and cycle key on off on off on
read codes in the odometer area

when was the last tune up done on that engine if any?
Try and check it for tune up replacing what it needed from plugs and or wires and so on
