Sorry,

I saw a woman on here who had a 2000 Dodge Caravan and had belt noise problems. I was trying to find out if she ever solved the problem. My 2000 Caravan, 3.3 Litre, recently had the Gates serpentine belt kit installed to stop the belt from falling off. Since it was installed, approximately 2 months ago, I have had the van in for service twice due to belt squeling problems. Any advice on what it could be? I've had 2 brand new belts put on with the same problem.

Hi:
Did they replace the belt tensionier? Does the belt always make noise? If not, when does it? Try something, with the engine running, open the hood and pour a small amount of water on the belt. Does it stop making noise? Let me know.

Yes, they did replace the tensioner when they put the gates kit on. After the gates kit was first installed it took about 3 weeks for the belt to start squeling. When I took it for service they replaced the brand new belt with a brand new belt. Again, 3 weeks until it started squeling. This past Monday I took it back again and they re-aligned and re-adjusted the belt. That lasted until today when it started to squel yet again. Funny you asked about the water. I actually did that today and it stopped instantly. Until 4 or 5 hours later when I used the van again. Thanks.
