1997 Dodge Caravan Automatic

My parent's '97 Dodge Caravan se's trunk won't open. It's been going on for a few months now and we used to still get it open, but it occasionally got stuck. Now it won't open at all. I don't know exactly what's wrong, but when u pull on the handle it feels like its not attached to anything. Is there anyway I could fix it? If not, how much would it cost to fix it?

It sounds like something you can fix. You need to remove the door panel on the rear hatch. It will be a little harder with the door closed, but can be done. Once it is removed, check the linkage from the handle to the latch. Also check the handle itself where the linkage connects. Chances are the linkage has either come disconnected or it broke.

Let me know if you have other questions, or what you find.

If I remove the door panel, when I want to put it back will it go back into place easily, or do I need a glue or something? Do I need a tool to take them off? I've never done anything like this before.

There is no glue required. There are some screws and plastic clips between that hold it on. Just take your time and pay attention to how it comes apart. Then just reverse the process to replace it. It is made to remove in the event of a problem.

Let me know if you have questions while you are doing it.
