1994 Dodge Caravan timing chain

My wife was driving along when all of a sudden the engine quit, nothing, nada zilch. It will turn over, but no spark to the plugs. I "ass"umed it was the timing chain, so like me, I tore into it, only to find the chain intact. My question, Would it be wiser to replace the chain while I have it torn down, or could this be something else that's major, and I would waste my money doing so. Both of us are disabled, so money is tight. Could it be the modual? and is the ignition module in the distributor?, I'm at a standstill, thanks, David (pappy1958)
