Check Engine 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 62000 miles

My check engine light is on. I took it to Auto-Zone and it says that the probable causes are due to an engine mis-fire, vaccum leak, or oil leakage in the exaust. Please help I am not sure what to do or how much this is going to cost.

The code is P0420, how likely is that I need to have the catalytic converter replaced, or is there something else that I need to look at? Do you know if there is a manufacturers emissions warranty of 8 years/80,000

I would pay no attention of the p0420 code because you will get this if the engine is misfiring. Lets change the spark plugs and clear the codes to see what happens.

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

I wish I found this site earlier because I have been paying through the nose at the shop I was going to. I did what you suggested and the car has never run better! Thanks again.
