Fuel injectors

My sons girlfriend has a 99 dodge avenger with a 2.5 liter. The fuel injector for cylinder 4 is open. It runs, but she doesn't have the money to repair it right now. What possible damage could result from driving it in this condition? Thanks.

So by this u mean it runs rich? If so u can damage the catytic converter and that can be costly, also if it is running rich it will cost u alot more money in gas.

It is not running rich. The coil of the solenoid is open, which I believe will cause no fuel to be injected. Sorry about the cofusion.

This means ur only running on three cylinders, I don't think it will cause any damge other then using alot more gas than normal.

Thanks for your response. By the way, this is a 6 cylinder engine, so it will be running on 5.
