Normally not but anything is possible. However, I think it would be better if you got a picture of what the issue is and we can figure out a way to try and fix this. Clearly the thing we want to make sure is the repair will last so that you are not dealing with a leak or other issues moving forward.

Let me know if you can get a picture and post it and we can go from there. Thanks

I am having a hard time seeing where the hole is. Take a look at the picture. Is it where I am pointing?

Is there oil coming out of the hole when the engine is running?

Yes, I can start the car and it’s fine but once the engine gets hot the oil spits out of the hole and all over the hot pipes causing it to smoke out the engine bay.

Okay. If this is spitting oil then I would try and seal this with JB weld 2 part epoxy. Clearly once you do this, you will not be able to get the dipstick tube out but this is better then replacing the engine block. Clearly we don't want to force the JB weld down into the engine block too far but just enough to plug the hole.

I am having a similar problem with eh hoke halfway up the tube and it is spraying as a result. This is with with diesel engine and the hole is in the dipstick tube which seems to be made of rubber or plastic would it be possible to patch with the jb weld fiber tape or any other suggestions? Said dipstick tube is on back order since last August so I don't think I will be able to obtain a new one.

Hi,

That isn't good. Is your vehicle the same year, make, and model as the one indicated above? I don't think they used a diesel in a 1969 LeMans. LOL

As far as the issue, we need to determine what the tube is made from. If it is a 1969, it should be steel.

Let me know.

Joe

Hello sorry, I didn't realize this was a car specific thread. Actually, it's a 2004 Freightliner MT35. The hose is a hard rubber/ soft plastic material.

No problem whatsoever. The idea that it's a Freightliner makes it different. LOL I'm not familiar with it. However, something as you originally mentioned should help. If it's a hard plastic, you should be able to find an epoxy that can withstand heat that would work. It's just a thought. LOL

Let me know. Also, I have a favor to ask. Would you mind copying and pasting your original post to a new thread? We try to keep them specific to one type of vehicle/problem, so it is more helpful to others. I hope you understand.

Here is the link to start a new one:

Again, I hope you understand.

Take care,

Joe
