The dashboard indicator of failed taillight came on, and I found a failed 5watt taillight. I replaced it and its twin with bulb from an auto parts store, not Toyota. The dashboard indicator is still on whenever the lights are switched on. Checked all other lights for function, also tried disconnecting battery to reset computer.
Will a Toyota bulb solve this?

as long as it was aname brand bulb from the auto parts it shold be ok. However if Chinese made it may be the problem. it cold be a bad ground and/or poor connection. try some dielectric grease when installing the bulb
