Put a used head on the car and now it cranks over weird. It doesn't sound like it did before I put the head on. 2 or 3 revolutions it sounds good then it sounds like it skips a revolution and starts over again.

Put a used head on drivers' side of motor and now when I crank it over it sounds weird. The first couple of revolutions sound good but then it's like it misses a revolution and starts over again. Is this normal or is there some way I can time the cams?

The first time I put my car's engine in time I had resistance on all four cams, I put this new head on the driver's side and all of the marks on that side were lined up while the passenger side had resistance. This doesn't seem right to me; can you please tell me what I did wrong and how to fix it? I have been working on this for 4 months now. Please help.

Hi,

The only thing I can think of is if you are releasing the belt tensioners too quickly. Do me a favor. I attached the directions below for installing the timing belt. Take a look through them and see if there is anything you are doing differently.

Let me know what you find or if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe
