Hello. I am having trouble figuring out what is wrong with the cruise control. Cruise control lights will not come on on the dash. I checked the fuses and they look fine. I opened the steering and tried using a test light but there is no power supply that is why I do not think the problem is with pedal switch. I do not know what to do next.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros. Com. First, I have attached two pictures which are flow charts to help diagnose problems with the cruise control. Take a look at them first.

Since you are not getting any power, check the fuse using a test light. See if there is power on both sides of the fuse.

If the fuse is good, I suspect there is a problem with the switch. Here are directions for checking the switch: Note: Pictures 3 and 4 correlate with these directions.

HINT:
For check No.1 - No.2
Turn the ignition switch ON.
For check No.3
Turn ignition switch ON.
Shift to D position.
For check No.4
Jack up the vehicle.
Start the engine.
Shift to D position.
Press the control switch to SET/COAST or RES/ACC position and hold it down or hold it up respectively (1)
Push the main switch ON (2).
Check that the CRUISE MAIN indicator light blinks twice or 3 times repeatedly after 3 seconds.
Turn the SET/COAST or RES/ACC switch OFF.
No: 1 - 4
Operate each switch as listed in the table.
Read the blinking pattern of the CRUISE MAIN indicator light.
After performing the check, turn the main switch OFF.
HINT: When 2 or more signals are input to the ECU, the lowest numbered code will be displayed first.

Now, to make it more interesting, there are two different systems. The aforementioned directions are for the DENSO made unit. The following directions are for the Ford designed system. Pictures 5 and 6 correlate with these directions.
