Is it a good Idea to replace crankshaft sensor and seal when replacing Harmonic Balancer?

My car has had problems starting lately, when I put the key in ignition switch and this may be why. Where is crankshaft located on my car?

Hi,

The crankshaft is at the bottom of the engine. Also, to answer your question, if you don't have an oil leak at the crankshaft front seal, I would leave it alone.

Also, a crankshaft position sensor can cause starting issues. Take a look at this link and let me know if it seems to mirror what you experience:

If you feel that could be the issue, the sensor is located beside the crankshaft pulley (harmonic balancer). Here is a link that explains in general how one is replaced:

See pics below. The last pic shows the harmonic balancer and crankshaft sensor. I highlighted the sensor and where it will be found, and I circled the balancer.
