Hi, need help, car listed above w221 s600 biturbo. Need to remove crankshaft pulley just to get to a bolt to replace water pump. I'm thinking of using an impact drill to remove the crankshaft pulley. Would this work? Would the impact drill just loosen bolt without rotating the crankshaft? How do I loosen bolt on crankshaft pulley without rotating the crankshaft. Please bear in mind I do not have any special tools for the job.

Hello,

Mercedes actually calls for to use a crankshaft counter holder in order to remove the pulley. Even with an impact you might need a way to keep the pulley from turning. Depending on the location and access, sometimes using a barker bar to keep the pulley from turning could work.

I have attached the replacement procedure for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.

Did you send a response? It showed up as an additional question, but I do not see any follow up response. If you have not, then no worries. Thank you.
