Hi, my vehicle makes a loud clicking/cracking noise only when turning right, the car steers correctly but the steering wheel when steering to the right does not perform as smoothly as steering to the left and it makes the noises described.

It has the basic manual steering box with no hydraulic assist whatsoever, it seems that the noise comes from the steering box, steering column, steering wheel area, when I ask a friend to turn the wheel I cant seem to find anything strange from the steering system seen from the outside. Steering box problem?

Hi,

It could be your steering shock grabbing when you turn right or the universals and column bearings in the steering column they can rusted and dry remove the column make sure there free and not worn out. It could also be the steering gear ball bearings remove it make sure it also turns freely. I'm attaching a steering noise guide and schematics to help you locate your noise and rough steer to the right. Let us know if this information was helpful and what fix it and if you need more info.
