My cooling fan runs when the engine is off, replaced thermostat.

How long does the fan run with the ignition off? Normally when the engine is hot, the PCM will run the fan longer just to get the engine cooled down.

Unfortunately we don't have a manual for your vehicle so I am not able to give you much more detail but this is a general rule. However, if it does not shut off then you either have a wiring issue or a module issue. I would not think the fan itself is the issue because it seems to be doing what it is told to do.

It has actually switched itself on and drain the battery.

Okay. Then you need to check wiring to the fan and then the control module. This is unlikely to be the fan itself. Again, we don't have a manual so I can't offer you documents to aid in testing but this is the direction you need to go. Sorry I can't be more help.

Thanks a lot, I've googled and come across the fact that it is control module that is faulty because last time I accidentally touched it and it was extremely hot.

Okay. It could be but just because it is hot doesn't mean it is the issue. It being hot just means it was on for a while. It could be the issue but I would want to do a little more testing that that.
