I know my quick fix isn't the answer, but I need your advice

Day #1 - Car went crazy locks up and down, rough shifting, power steering warning light, engine light on. Research online showed it's a common problem and my OBDII code reader showed P1682. Quick fix attempt worked well by grounding the TCM itself to the car frame. No more code P1682 so I cleared all codes with my reader.

Day #2 - Engine light comes back on. Code P0705 now appears.

One other thing (don't know if it's related) all of a sudden, my shifter locks in park and won't release when pushing in the shifter button. Instead, I hear a clicking sound coming from the steering Column. Also when I step on the brake, I hear a clicking sound coming from the shifter itself.

Help ! Thanks in advance.

It is hard to know for sure how all these would be related other then a possible weak battery.

Let's start with getting the battery load checked and make sure it is able to carry the proper load.

As for the shifter making a clicking noise when you press the brake, that is normal. That is the shifter interlock solenoid and it releases the shifter when the brake is being pressed. This way you can't shift the vehicle into gear with your foot off the brake.

Let us know what happens with this info and we can go from there. Thanks

Hello, I'm Danny.

I've attached below the code information for both code P1682 and P0705. Code P1682 has to do with ignition voltage being supplied to the ECM-engine control module via a fuse controlling the throttle actuator control operation. Code P0705 has to deal with the transmission range selector and shifter operation. I've attached the code information below with picture diagnostic flowchart steps for your car. Get back to us with anything you find and we'll go from there. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Because there was two possible culprits (TCM / PNP) creating the P0705 and because it would take a Professional In-Depth Evaluation (through the process of elimination). The repair needed to completed by a Professional. Repairs are scheduled after June 9th. I'll update after repairs have been made.
