I got the error code p0455, took car in and they said it was a loose gap cap. They cleaned the cap, and tightened (so tight I could barely get it off again.) Check engine light went away. The next time I gassed up the light came back. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get cap on as tight. So I bought a new cap. After just one click I noticed the cap just pops loose. Tried pushing in as hard as I could and turning it until I heard 1 click, then 2 clicks, then 3 clicks. Have to fuss with it to get it to tighten down.

A few other things I have noticed that may or may not be related: When I start the car, there is a hiss coming from the front. The idle is at.7 instead of.5 sometimes. Any idea on whats going on?

Hello,

This is a Direct Trouble Code (DTC) for a leak in your vehicle's Evaporative Emissions System(EVAP). This system is designed to catch fuel vapors in your fuel tank and store them in a charcoal canister until your vehicle's Power-train Control Module (PCM) or "computer" decides to introduce them into the throttle body so they can burnt in the normal combustion process of your engine. In the diagrams down below I have included the factory diagnostic troubleshooting guide for your vehicle for DTC P0455. It will require the use of a vacuum pump which can be loaned at an auto parts store like AutoZone for free, just leave a deposit. Please go through this guide and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

I agree with Alex! The hissing up front though is more than likely a vacuum leak, and if it is a bad enough leak it will cause the idle to be higher than normal and can affect the evaporative emission system because the purge valve depends on engine vacuum to draw vapors from the tank. No vacuum to the tank, the engine's computer relates that to a massive leak because the fuel tank is not drawing down vacuum. Your symptoms make total sense as a vacuum leak.
