Check engine light came on and I ran the code and it came back p0443. Which I know is the purge valve and I replaced the part yesterday and reset it but the light came on again the van is getting poor gas mileage. It is shifting kind of rough from first to second gear. I have have a rebuilt the transmission recently put in, but none the less I had it serviced just in case. My issues still persist. I am not quite sure what to do next. I would appreciate any insight you could give me. Thank you

P0443 is for the purge valve circuit, IE the control wiring, The red/yellow wire is the power side, the light green/black is the ECM ground control wire, it switches the ground on/off to control the valve. If that wire is damaged and shorted to ground it will hold the valve open. As a test, unplug the purge valves connector and see if the engine runs better. If it does the valve is being held open. Trace along the wire and see if it is rubbing on something that is grounded, if not you will want a good scan tool to see if you can command the ECM to activate/deactivate the valve, to see if it is the ECM itself.
