Code P0300 is for replacing the spark plugs. I've read that iridium spark plugs are the best in the market. What's your opinion on them and would they work for my SAAB.

Hi,

A P0300 indicates a random misfire, which could be due to spark plugs. However, there are other things that can cause this.

As far as the iridium spark plugs, yes they are excellent and long-lasting, but expensive. If that is the choice you go with, make sure you get the proper ones as far as heat range is concerned. The parts store should be able to cross-reference them from the original spark plug number.

Also, I just responded to your other post related to the fuel pressure regulator. Now I understand where you are going with this. Are there any other codes stored? If so, let me know what they are so I can better direct you.

Also, pic 1 below shows the original type spark plug and part number that was used on this vehicle new. The remaining pics are for the removal and replacement of the plugs.

I hope this helps. Let me know if there are other codes and how things turn out for you.

Take care,

Joe

So, the P1312 code is also for the spark plugs, or is it for something else?

What size mm socket do I need for the engine cover and the spark plugs? And, do I need to torque the spark plugs?

Hi,

The code is related to the plugs. However, that doesn't mean it isn't being caused by something different.

As far as sizes, I believe the spark plugs will either require an 18mm or 3/8" socket. As far as the cover bolts, I expect either 8mm or 10mm.

Let me know how you make out.

Joe
