My car has a five speed transmission. It is not going into first gear or reverse gear when I start the engine. I have to warm it up for at least ten minutes before it actually goes into gear. It just started to do this. It was running smooth and easy gear changing for last couple of years.

Hello,

Your clutch disc is fallen apart which causes the clutch not to fully disengage because the disc cannot stop allowing the gears to be changed. Here is a couple of guides that will help you see what you are in for and to show you how it all works.

and

You car will be different but it gives you the idea.

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken
