Recently I replaced two-wheel speed sensors in the front of my car after the ABS light came on. Afterwards, though, every time when I first start driving my car it makes this clunking noise and feeling that goes away after 2-3 seconds and doesn’t occur again while driving. It only happens when the car has been turned off and has stopped moving after a while. I know it’s not my tires as it did it with my old ones too and just replaced them. Also, my car is AWD.

Chances are it is the front bearing hubs which is common. Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so I can hear the noise? That way I can tell for sure what's going on. You can upload it here with your response. Here is how to change the front hubs out. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

The front wheel bearings are new as I've had to change them recently. I’ll make sure to post a video next time I use my car.

Thanks for the video. It sounds like a transmission mount or possibly a loose wheel. Can you tell where the noise is coming from, front, middle or rear of the vehicle? I would raise the car up and use a flashlight to check the exhaust mounts, recheck the lugnuts and check the driveline. Please let me know what you find.

It’s the rear, it’s also like a vibration. It’s weird it only happens when first moving and when I slow down after, once I do that first cycle it never comes back for the rest of the drive. Could it be a stripped bolt from the brakes? This happened after I changed the ABS wheel speed sensor and brake pads. I’m going to lift it today and check everything I’ll record and post a video.

That would be great. Also, are there any warning lights on? I have seen CV axles go bad and cause this problem. I will await the video to help confirm the issue.
