When you start up a incline you will hear a loud metal clicking sound. Let off the gas and back on the noise quits. About a year ago I put a new engine block in the truck transferring intake, alternator, starter and the outside stuff. Must be something I put on because it did it with the old engine and now does it with the new one. I thought it was the clutch fan so I put a new one on it. Still makes the clicking sound. Could have gotten a bad new clutch fan? But kind of doubt it. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

It sounds like you have a U joint that is going out. Use a flashlight and check each one of the U joints for rust colored dust which is a sign the joint has gone out.

Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken

Hello Ken, I checked my U joint and they were all good. No loose motion at all. Greased them while I was under there. Took the truck for a drive and the clicking came back. It sounds like a screwdriver stuck in a alum. Fan blade. Just barely hitting the blade.

No rust colored dust. It sounds like it's coming from under the hood toward the front.
