I changed my engine over to carburetor with a bigger cam and new intake. It runs good in park, but when put in gear it cuts off the only way it stay running is when I use brake and gas. Someone told me it could be the torque converter, is that true?

Actually it depends on how large of a cam you put in it and how high it idles in neutral. The torque converter may need to have one installed that has a higher stall speed so it wont stall. If you are idling around 1500-1800 the cam is too big for torque converter.

What does the truck idle at? If it is like I said it is not a high enough stall speed or the clutch is staying locked on in the torque converter.
