Thank you for your help. But I guess I wasn't very accurate when choosing my car repair experience. I had to look at/read several times to have a clue what you were talking about. And the tutorial was so far above my head. Well anyway I am determined to figure this out. I actually have a couple pairs of snap ring pliers so I'm on my way. I will let you know how it works out.

Hi,

The first thing to do is make sure the battery negative terminal is disconnected. There is power to this component at all times and placing anything metal (tool) in it will cause a short.

Okay, if you look at pic 1, I circled what are called snap ring pliers. They are very inexpensive and often times a parts store will lend them to you. What you need to do is look inside and locate what the pic refers to as retaining bosses. With the snap ring pliers, gently depress the bosses and wiggle the power outlet out of the instrument panel.

At the end of the outlet will be a wire and connector. Simply disconnect that wire from the outlet and attach it to the new outlet and reverse the procedure. Just make sure when you install the outlet that it will align with the bosses again and reattach.

Feel free to let us know if you have questions.
Take care,
Joe

Okay, I got the pliers all ready but there's another problem. The gear shift is in the way of getting the pliers in there. Now what?
