A buzzing noise, worse when turning, is usually caused by air in the fluid from the fluid being low. Have you noticed a puddle near the right front wheel where you park? Fill the fluid if it's low, then watch for dripping fluid or wet areas. If the fluid goes low again but you don't see any leakage, suspect a leaking seal in the rack and pinion steering gear. The accordion-style boots over the two inner tie rod ends will fill with the fluid and eventually be forced to leak the fluid onto the ground. If the entire engine is wet, your mechanic can add a bottle of dye to the fluid, then have you drive it for a few minutes. The dye will show up bright yellow under a special black light to show where the leakage is occurring.
A broken pressure relief spring in the pump can also cause a buzzing noise but that is not very common.
