I am sorry for the vague nature of my question but I am just starting to try and trouble shoot my problem. While my van is idling there is an intermittent clicking noise from the passenger side of the engine compartment. The heating/air conditioning system is turned off inside the vehicle. It starts after a few minutes of idling. The noise comes and goes about every 15 to 30 seconds and lasts about as long. Is there a common part that is worn? The belt seems to be in good shape.

It sounds like the AC compressor is turning on and off. Watch it to see if that is where the sound is coming from. You will actually see the clutch lock in and release.

Let me know what you find.
