Engine Performance problem
2002 Chrysler Town and Country 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 83000 miles

The dealer charged $89 just to determine the cause of the engine check light. They want $600+ parts and labor to replace the "PCM". This seems exorbitant. What is a PCM and what happens if it is not replaced?

The PCM is the power control modual that is the main computer that runs the engine and gets its readings from all the sensors in the car it sets up how the engine should run if that goes completely out the van will not run you would be looking at around $1500.00 to fix the dealer has to input all the info into the new PCM such as the year make model mileage ECT.
