2001 Dodge P0720 Speed Sensor Fault

I have an 2001 dodge 3/4 ton quad cab 360 magnum, and a dtc po720 has came up, should I go ahead and replace the speed sensor or should I look further for a problem because the definition is actually a output speed sensor circuit malfuntion? also would this cause the truck to act like the tranny is slipping?at highway speeds(60mph) I notice a slight spike in the rpm's

It could. There are 2 speed sensors in that. I usually replace them as a set. Ther are no code definitions to distinguish a problem between the two
