Would the vehicle have fire coming from the coil to the distributor and from the distributor to the sparks plugs if the timing was not set correctly?

Hi there, you will still have a spark created if the ignition system is working, the timing aspect delvers the spark at the correct time in relationship to piston position BTDC, at any given speed and load condition.
